Customs (Bayan)

Service Description

A license is provided to beneficiaries who wish to establish a private museum or heritage house, exhibiting a collection of artifacts with the aim of preservation and introduction to visitors.

  1. - ID (linked with the Royal Oman Police).
  2. -Copy of the non-conviction certificate (linked with the Royal Oman Police).
  3. -A power of attorney from the heirs, issued by a notary public, in case the property is owned by heirs.
  4. -Engineering drawing illustrating the proposed building's location and specifications, showing the dimensions of the chambers, facilities, and designated areas.
  5. -Copy of the land sketch (site plan) linked with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning.
  6. -Copy of the property ownership or lease contract.
  7. -Comprehensive concept of the museum, including its objectives, target audience, management plan, funding source, and the type and sources of exhibits.
  8. -Comprehensive inventory, supported by pictures, of the exhibits and artifacts to be displayed in the museum or heritage house, with complete information about them and the historical periods they belong to.
  9. -Application fee (10 Omani Rials).

  8. Technical and construction conditions:
  9. - The building's location should be easy to access, with the necessary facilities to serve visitors.
  10. Taking into account the construction specifications and engineering and electrical safety precautions in proportion to the nature of the service provided by the building (the capacity of the building).
  11. - The heritage house should be restored or suitable for use as a special museum.
  12. Availability of security and safety standards such as warning, firefighting and emergency services systems.
  13. Conditions and criteria of the museum offer:
  14. Securing and protecting holdings during the presentation from natural conditions and human factors.
  15. - Show holdings in organized and classified ways according to a specific pattern of display, with the appropriate number of holdings in the one hall, where the corridors are free of obstacles, taking into account the movement of visitors.
