Oman Open Data Competition 2019

What is Open Data?
Open data is data that can be accessed, reused, and redistributed by anyone, for any purpose, including commercial reuse, free of charge and without any restrictions. Open Data refers to datasets that are held in organizational databases.

Open Data Competition:

  • The Open Data Competition is an online competition, which will allow participants to work virtually while being engaged through workshops as a checkpoint for follow up support.
  • In Open Data Competition, we are seeking for individuals or teams who are interested to develop ideas and businesses using open data in Oman.
  • The competition is targeting participants with different backgrounds: developers, designers, project managers, business development, and engineers.
  • Focuses mainly on solving a problem or creating a new opportunity.

Competition Stages:
  • Registration: 12 March-7 April 2019
  • Introductory workshop: 18 March 2019, venue: Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre during the ICT Exhibition COMEX 2019.
  • First Follow-up and support Workshop: 01 April 2019, venue: Sas for Mobile Apps Development centre.
  • Registration Deadline: 7 April 2019.
  • Second follow-up and support Workshop: ( 22 April 2019, venue: Sas for Mobile Apps Development center.
  • Final Submission: 05 May 2019 (Submission Evaluation).
  • Showcase event: 13 -14 May 2019, Individually with Judges (Participants Evaluation).
  • Final Event: 15 May 2019 (Announcing winners).

Submission Criteria:
  • Presentation (50%): The problem (8%), solution (8%), Team (7%), Competition Experience (5%), data used (8%), needs (7%) and way forward (7%).
  • MVP (50%): Prototype (30%) and design (20%)
