The Ministry of Social Development, and as part of its voluntary work creed, strives to enhance the role played by Omani women in the society and promotes the importance of Omani women voluntary work in the development process. It is worth mentioning that Omani Women Associations were the first NGOs in the Sultanate of Oman with the establishment of the Omani Women Association in Muscat in 1971.
