Digital Transformation 

 

The Government Digital Transformation Program comes under the umbrella of the National Program for the Digital Economy in response to the royal decree to formulate an integrated implementation plan that engages all government institutions. The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) in coordination with all government entities has built a road map and created the implementation plan of the Government Digital Transformation Program 2021-2025 to transition to a digital government built on governance principles and emerging technologies, aiming at creating the government of the future and offering an integrated digital experience.

Implementation tracks

Four tracks have been identified to achieve the vision and national directions of the program, each of which has its objectives, indicators, and projects:

● Efficiency of Digital Solutions and Infrastructure track
Increase institutional efficiency, improve government entities' digital programs and infrastructure, and focus on central initiatives and systems.

Empowering national cadres in digital transformation, information technology and telecommunication.
● Community participation and Awareness track
Community participation and awareness-raising about the e-services provided by the government.

Numbers & statistics

The expected volume of investment made to implement the program is about 170 million OMR, which will be invested in improving procedures, re-engineering government services, automating primary services, and fully digitizing the services through developing digital solutions, improving digital infrastructure and enabling national competencies in digital transformation, future skills and change management.
