The National Records System (NRS) is one of main significant systems in Oman managed by ROP. The General Directorate of Civil Status is responsible for managing NRS. It offers high-quality national services. It enters civil events on records for both citizens and residents, and issues personal documents for them. In addition, it secures data for government institutions that contribute to planning procedures and offering good developed services at the least possible cost.

DGCS provides 9 main business services that with Oman’s citizens and residents identification cards and different life events. Below is the description of each service along with its possible variations.

• ID card: The purpose of this service is to issue a new ID Card for citizens. It also includes ID Card renewal.
• Resident card: The purpose of this service is to issue a new Resident Card for residents. It also includes Resident Card renewal.
• Birth Certificate: The service aims to register new born in the sultanate or citizen births abroad and issue birth certificates for them. It also includes printing additional copies of the certificates.
• Death Certificate: The service aims to register deaths in the sultanate or citizen deaths abroad and issue death certificates. It also includes printing additional copies of the certificates.
• Marriage/ Divorce registeration: The service aims to register marriage and divorce events in the national population register and update people’s records.
• Lost/Stolen Cards: The purpose of this service is to report a lost or stolen card and issue a new one.
• Damaged Card: The purpose of this service is to replace damaged ID or Resident card.
• Lost/Damaged/Stolen certificates issued by DGCS: The purpose of this service is to report lost, damaged, or stolen birth and death certificates issued by DGCS and issue new ones.
• Lost/Damaged/Stolen certificates issued by MOH: The purpose of this service is to report lost, damaged, or stolen birth and death certificates issued by Ministry of Health and issue new ones.
