  • General foundation programs are programs offered by higher education institutions to prepare students for the stage of university education. It does not carry academic weight (credit hours), and it is not part of the university education program. The national standards of general foundational programs were developed by the Omani Academic Accreditation Authority and the quality of education guarantee and approved in June 2008.

    • -The institution must be licensed and included in the schedule of the quality of the general foundation program.

  • Institutional Quality Audit (IQA) is the first stage of the two-stage institutional accreditation process. Each higher education institution only undergoes IQA once, usually after the graduation of the first full cohort of students.

    • The institution must be licensed and included in the schedule of institutional quality auditing

  • Institutional Standards Assessment (ISA) refers to Stage 2 of the two-stage Institutional Accreditation Process. Each Higher Education Institution (HEI) undergoes ISA every five years.

  • Reassessment against Institutional Criteria is part of the second phase of the two-phase institutional accreditation process. This applies only to higher education institutions that receive a "Conditionally Accredited" or "Under Observation" outcome during the Institutional Standards Assessment (ISA) process.

    • -That the institution has obtained a "approved, approved," or "under observation" result during the evaluation process against institutional standards (ISA)
